July 19, 2021 Kalispell to Pocatello
We awoke to another smoky, gray day.
We celebrated our meet-up over breakfast with Alice, once again enjoying the fabulous spread that the Kalispell Grand Hotel offers its guests. She headed out towards the Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve in Idaho.
I had a coaching call with a client.
And then we played one last Kalispell game of Tennis. Guess who won 6-4? I gave him a tough time, though. We both got some good exercise.
The drive to Pocatello was 2 hours of 2 lane roads along Flathead Lake. What a big lake it is! The drive was beautiful with lots of tall pines and beautiful blue water.
From there we got on Hwy 90 and Interstate 15. This was 85 MPH driving under grey, grey, smoky skies.
We saw a big buffalo herd north of Idaho Falls.
Finally the smoke started to clear and we see blue sky for first time in a week.
We made a quick stop for gas at Costco in Idaho Falls and stretched a bit. I called Marriott Customer Service for free night in Pocatello from some free nights on my account! YAH!!!!!
After over seven hours on the road we arrived at the Pocatello TownePlace Suites. It was really nice.
The best news was a very hot spa for my stiff muscles.
The room was a nice suite with full kitchen. We went down to the exercise room and sat in the spa for a while. Then I heated up my Halibut from Sunday night and we snacked on oysters and cheese and a nice glass of wine.
